I was going to post something in the article, but I thought better of it after perusing the comments. Am I the only one who's feeling pretty "Meh" about the whole new Ford GT?

I want to like it, I really do. I have always thought the GT40 was fantastic, truly one of the greatest sports racers to have ever graced this planet. The GT reincarnation was absolutely brilliant - a fresh, modern take on that timeless design. It was retro done right, in the best possible way.

When I opened my browser and pointed it to Jalopnik this morning, I saw the headline first. My heart began to race and palms sweat. I have been waiting for this day as soon as I read months back that there was an inkling of a return of the GT. I clicked the link and furiously scrolled through the article and pictures, my brain trying to digest what was in front of me. But as I slowed down and took it all in, something unexpected happen. From way out in left field, disappoint set in.

But as I look upon the new GT, my heart feels heavy. The front end looks like a tarted up Lotus Evora. The ass end is the aborted result of Ford GT and La Ferrari love scandal. And the doors carved out of McLaren. It even has those little arches of the BMW i8. It's every recent automotive style and design cue mashed together on something that resembles a GT40. An icon deserves better than this uninspired, lazy, half hearted attempt.

And then there's the V6. I know its supposed to make it GTE legal or something. And I don't care. The Ford GT is a car that has, betwixt it's frame rails, graced us with such legendary engines as the high-winding 289, the thunderous 427, and the spectacular 5.4L supercharged mod. This car needs a V8 dammit. It's in the heritage. It's in the DNA. There is literally no excuse, not emissions or fuel economy, nor anything else that it should not have a V8.

It pains me so much because I want to like this car so badly, but I just can't bring myself to accept it. Am I the only one who feels this way?

Yeah, no V8 is a huge miss for me.

Also, it's just so "concept-y" now. Let's see what it really ends up looking like.

As far as racing goes. The regulators will just give the GT huge BOP advantage like they did with Porsche's return to help all the headlines.

The GT350R is much more interesting to me, and even that is just reusing proven technology from other performance cars.

Med indeed.

It's funny, because the GT350R would actually fit in GTE just fine with it's 5.2L
